Standard Broiler House Disinfection Programme

1

PRE-CLEAN LITTER BEETLE TREATMENT (OPTIONAL)

1.1 – HOUSE still ‘warm’ after catching.
BAND-SPRAY the walls of the building with CBM8 MV every cycle, 1 metre above the litter line to kill retreating beetles. (1.5% – 2%)
1.1 – HOUSE ‘cooled’.
SPRAY the roof space with an orchard sprayer (1.5% – 2%), or
FOG CBM8 MV every 2 – 3 cycles. COLD FOG 150 – 200ml per 10 litres water (+ fogging agent optional)/1,000m3, or THERMAL FOG using 200ml/1,000m3.

2

DRY-CLEAN

2.1 – Empty and raise feeders and drinkers
2.2 – Remove all equipment, litter, dung, dust and dirt.

3

CLEANING AND WATER SANITISATION

3.1 – Fill the water system with AQUASTERIL/INTERQUADES using a 2% solution, open the taps at the ends of the water lines to ensure they fill completely. Once the lines are full, close the ends of the pipes and sweep the waterline nipples with a broom to activate them.
If the water system is circulated, leave the sanitiser to circulate for at least 6 hours. If the pipes are non-circulating, leave the sanitiser to work for 24 – 72 hours.
Once the water system has been sanitized, empty the system and flush through with clean water.
Leave to dry.
3.2 – Apply ALKALIENE BLUE to shed surfaces and equipment through a foaming lance at low pressure at a dilution of 1% – 2.5% (1:100 – 1:40) and leave for 30 mins, then power wash shed surfaces and outside concrete apron with water under high pressure.
3.3 – Remove any pools of water from the floor and allow the shed to dry.

4

DISINFECTION

4.1 – Close doors and vents, then disinfect shed, equipment and concrete apron using 400ml/m2 for rough/absorbent surfaces and 300ml/m2 for smooth surfaces, using either:
INTERCID at 1% (1:100), or
INTERSTERIL at 0.2% (1:500) dilution (eco-farm/winter)
4.2 – When the shed has dried and is safe to re-enter, fog the building with INTER-FORMALDEHYDE at 20ml/m3 (+ INTERFOG – Optional).

5

DISINFECTION CONTROL

5.1 – When the building is safe to enter, test the area using TVC swabs, focussing on the litter-line, vents, control room and corridors.
5.2 – If TVC levels are too high, repeat steps 4.1 &/or 4.2. Then retest (step 5.1) until levels are normal.

6

RESTOCKING

6.1 – Re-stock the sheds with litter, movable equipment and replace boot-dips at shed access points.
Fill the bootdips with 2% INTERCID (or 0.5% INTERSTERIL for organic farms).
6.2 – Lower and refill water lines and tun-off end-of-line taps when full.
6.3 – Lower and refill feed lines.
6.4 – Place chick papers.

7

PRE-STOCKING SHED SANITISATION

7.1 – Cover feeders and drinker cups/bells.
7.2 – Thermal fog INTERDES F at a dilution rate of 1:24 (for routine sanitisation) or 1:19 (for intensive sanitisation). Re-enter shed when fog has gone.

8

RESTOCKING AND AFTER-CARE

8.1 – Restock with chicks.
8.2 – Change the disinfectant in bootdips twice a week if using INTERCID at 2%, or daily if using INTERSTERIL at 0.5%.
8.3 – Regularly disinfect service corridors/control rooms etc. with INTERDES F spray at 1.5%.
